New keyboard shortcut

I dunno if this works in other programs, I’m assuming it does, but I accidently discovered that you can scroll horizontally with a scroll wheel as well as vertically. I was creating a path around an image in photoshop which involves zooming in close and using lots of keyboard shortcuts and scrolling. I accidently held the control key while trying to scroll vertically and it scrolled horizontally!

Cool, this is REALLY useful while doing stuff like this in photoshop!

Chickpea Salad

This is a salad I first tried out of a recipe book cuz I was having weird pregnancy fetishes. Not normally a dish that I would have tried, but I’m glad I did cuz it’s YUMMY.

I made it for Alexander and even he enjoyed it, despite the high proportion of rabbit food!

Chickpea Salad

 1/2 cup rinsed, drained, canned chickpeas
1 lebanese cucumber (130g), chopped coarsely
1/2 small red onion (50g), sliced thinly
1/2 cup (40g) seeded kalamata olives
1/2 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
1/4 coarsely chopped yellow capsicum
1 small egg tomato (90g), chopped
2 tablespoons tzatziki

dressing
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 cup finely chopped lemon rind
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Combine chickpeas, cucumber, onion, olives, parsely, capsicum and tomato in a medium bowl.

Combine ingredietns for dressing in screw-top jar, shake well.

Toss dressing with salad. Top with tzatziki.

Serves 1
Per serving 12.6g total fat (3g saturated fat); 1162kJ (278 cal); 29.3g carbohydrate; 11.9g protein; 9.8g fibre

Summer is nearly over?

This is crazy, I was talking with someone the other day and discussing how time is going by so quickly. I was thinking about how close my birthday is coming up and how it seemed not long ago that I panicked about turning 30 (which I still haven’t completely come to terms with yet by the way). Anyway, the person I was talking to said “yeah summer is nearly over”

I was like “WHAT???? No that’s end of February”

Adelaide Workshop Q1

The time has rolled around again and Adelaide Workshop was held in a new location at the YMCA in Kensington Park. The location was reasonably centre thank gawd, but this is the first time the workshop has been held on a basketball court since the days when the workshop always used to be at Marion.

Basketball courts suck.

Not only was the floor filthy (not nice in balance), but the room had no air con and with a forecast of around 35C it wasn’t nice. Normally I don’t mind the heat, but I’m slightly more sensitive to it at the moment.

I did combat and balance in the afternoon, although I took it easy cuz I taught pump aswell in the morning (BP62 again………OUCH!) and that’s not an easy task for a 6 month pregnant woman, especially in this heat. So I took options, but I was glad to be able to participate (and it was nice to take it easy and have a good excuse, lol).

I can’t remember a lot, but what struck me is the shocking music for track 4 and 5………..but I LOVE the music for tracks 7 and 8. Chorrey is fantastic for track 4, love the way they’ve set up the jump kick. No evasive side kicks, but the ginga is back again this time around. Track 6 also kinda resembles the track 6 from BC28……….which is handy cuz I’ve been teaching that track lately.

Balance I found to be quite nice, although I was concentrating hard not only on following, but also on doing pregnancy options where possible.┬á Funnily enough I can still manage to lay on my stomach without discomfort, which isn’t common I don’t think. It doesn’t seem to bother me at all, although I can no longer do bow pose. I think I can demo the 1 leg version but I don’t get anything out of the actual move, so it’s pointless for me to do (but handy that I can demo). Funnily enough we do a seated twist which is actually similar to the pregnancy option, so that’s gonna be hard for me to teach them “DO go the same way as me this time!” haha

Also got a chance to say hi to Kendall Kimball and Kylie Gates who I last saw at the Les Mills February filmings in 2006, so that was pretty cool.

Anyway, absolutely stuffed this evening now, seems I’m not sleeping well either lately. I guess my body is adjusting to sleepless nights in advance (I dunno why the body has to do that, it really isn’t necessary yanno!).

BODYPUMP

Well with less than a week left to go before the workshop I’ve been obviously mixing, and last night I decided to go back to BODYPUMP 62. I did the first half of it Monday night, but then did the entire release last night.

I forgot how hard this release was!

A really challenging release…….my legs ached after doing the squat track Monday night, even though I was lifting light weights. The triceps are nasty with the “surprise” at the end…….and to finish off with that shoulder track, ugh.

So yeah, this is definately a challenging release.

Machiavelli (Citadels)

I have finally found this game in English!

Alexander did a bit of hunting online and managed to find for me the English name of this game which is Citadels. That made my search a little bit easier. So I looked on Amazon.com and figured I could buy it from there (as it was available there). However after I started my order, I discovered that while the game was around $20, and the expansion pack was about $9………however the postage was going to be over $50!!!!

So I decided I might try and look for the game in a local store first.

The game comes with the expansion with it, but I think I might start with just the original characters to begin with, although the additional characters look like they could be fun, just for something different. I’ll have to schedule a Machiavelli night with my friends soon!

Just gotta wait for the Oliebollen now……..it appears that Alexander and I left it in a bag in the boot of his car and forgot all about it ­čś│ but he has now posted the mix for me, so hopefully won’t be long before we get it.

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagne

I’d never made a lasagne in my life till recently, and this is a really yummy vegetarian lasagne which I have also adapted to non-vegetarian version. I was surprised to discover that lasagne is easier to cook than I realised!

Recipe

Tomato Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small green capsicum, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dry basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 400g can tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 x 200g packet instant lasagne

White Wine Sauce

  • 30g butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons dry white wine
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated chedder cheese

Spinach layer

  • 12 spinach leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 2 shallots, chopped

Cheese layer

  • 400g ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan
  • 2 eggs

Tomato sauce: Heat oil, add onion, mushrooms and capsicum, cook and stir over high heat until onion is tender. Add herbs, undrained tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar. Bring to the boil, reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 30 mins, stirring occasionally.

Spinach layer: Heat oil in pan, add garlic, spinach and shallots. Stir fry until spinach is wilted, about 3 minutes. Drain away as much liquid as possible.

White Wine Sauce: Melt butter in pan, stir in flour, cook for 1 minutes stirring. Gradually stir in white wine and milk, stir over heat until sauce boils and thickens, add cheese and stir until melted.

Pour half the tomato sauce into a lamington tin or overprood dish (16cm x 26cm). Place a single layer of the lasange sheets over tomato sauce, then spinach layer, then cheese layer. Top with a second layer of lasange sheets, then remaining tomato sauce. Pour White Wine sauce over tomato sauce. Bake uncovered for 30 mins in moderately hot over or until top is bubbly and beginning to brown.

Hints: Prepare the day before as required, cover and refrigerate, bake 45 mins before ready to serve. Stand 10 mins before cutting. Make 3 quantities to serve 25 guests.

For the non-veggie version I just added mince to the tomato sauce layer. I also didn’t use quite all the ingredients, I modified some things slightly cuz I was lazy and some ingredients I didn’t have, but it was still yummy!

Registered for Adelaide Workshop

yay, I’m happy to say I managed to register for Adelaide workshop on time this time! Well, the last 2 times have been screwed up for me, but the first was cuz I didn’t receive my music and the second time I just forgot!

But despite my preggo brain I’ve managed to register with 3 days to spare.

Currently registered for combat and balance, but I expect I’ll have to teach pump in the morning so we’ll have to see how much my body can take in it’s current condition. It seems difficult to get pump instructors on Sunday mornings………I wonder why that is? lol

ipod video

I don’t think I’ve mentioned as yet, that Alexander gave me his ipod video to me as a gift (engraved with his name on it), and since my other ipod was playing up, this ipod video has now taken over in delivering the music to my classes ­čÖé

So since it gets so heavily used, I went shopping yesterday and had a look for a case for it, and found a perfect pink leather case on special.

I’m positive Alexander will LOVE the pink………hehe ­čść
